DAILY REFLECTION

Friday 5th March~

Reflection on my initial idea:

I soon realised that it was going to be far too difficult to create a one-piece suit/ catsuit/ bodysuit since it was something I had never sewn before, so I had the idea to create a de-constructed costume where each piece could attach to each other almost forming a puzzle. In this case, I had to research methods of fastening like zips, ties, buttons, press studs, hooks, etc.

The concept of having a multiple-piece costume also intrigued me as it represented how different people develop these insecurities at different times in their life and may not feel all of them simultaneously. It also represented how some people are more open about specific insecurities, while they keep some parts more hidden.

This interactive choice also allows the audience to feel more attached to my piece due to the personal input they have when choosing what pieces to put on their bodies. This in turn also creates a deeper connection to my piece, evoking a stronger emotional response.
